CGPA to Percentage Calculator
There is no single all-India formula. VTU, AKTU, VIT, SRM, JNTU, KTU, DTU, DU, MAKAUT, Anna, SPPU, Mumbai University, CBSE and others each publish their own rule — or, in Mumbai’s 2026 circular and CBSE’s 2023 notice, they tell you not to use a CGPA multiplier at all. Pick your university, read the scope line, and open the official document before you put a number on a job form.

Why there is no single CGPA-to-percentage formula
Indian universities adopted CGPA at different times and copied different offsets. Some subtract 0.75, some subtract 0.5, some multiply by 9.5, some by 10, SPPU’s Examination Section uses 8.9, and Mumbai University repealed its old formulas in January 2026. JNTUH and JNTUK are different universities with different offsets. A website that prints one formula for every college is guessing. The table below is generated from the same data file as the calculator — only the documents we have checked.

Formulas that changed recently
- KTU, June 2023. Regulation R6.21 used 10 × CGPA − 2.5. U.O. No. 1584/2023/KTU dated 29.06.2023 amended it to 10 × CGPA. The calculator uses × 10.
- Mumbai University, 1 January 2026. The old 7.1 × CGPA + 11 formula and the engineering 7.4 × CGPI + 12 version are no longer valid. Conversion is from actual semester marks, on request, through the college.
- CBSE, 30 November 2023. The Board does not calculate, declare, or inform percentage of marks. Institutions and employers may compute one (often best of five). CGPA × 9.5 on the CBSE page is the old CCE-era indicative conversion only.
- IKGPTU, April/May 2020. The multiplier changed from 9.5 to 10 for students passing out from the April/May 2020 examination session onwards.
- University of Calcutta, 24 December 2024. Notification CSR/143/2024 sets CGPA × 10 for UG courses under CCF, with immediate effect from 24.12.2024.
Why do websites show different formulas for the same university?
Unofficial calculators often copy one popular multiplier onto every college. DTU’s 2015 notification is (10 × CGPA) − 7.5, but many sites still print CGPA × 10. SPPU’s Examination Section PDF uses × 8.9, while other sites keep (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. This section only uses the official document linked on each university page.
CGPA vs SGPA vs percentage
SGPA is a semester grade point average. CGPA is usually the cumulative figure across semesters. Percentage on this site is whatever the linked regulation defines as the conversion of CGPA (or, for Mumbai, of actual marks). Do not run one semester’s SGPA through a CGPA formula unless the same regulation says that is allowed. DU’s 2017 notification is explicit that the percentage uses CGPA based on all six semesters.
How to get an official conversion certificate
Apply through your college exam section. Take original grade cards. Some universities issue a letter only if you ask (Mumbai’s 2026 circular says so plainly). This website cannot stamp a university seal. If a recruiter wants “as on marksheet”, do not invent a percentage the marksheet never printed.

Frequently asked questions
Is CGPA × 9.5 valid for every university?
No. × 9.5 appears in the University of Delhi CBCS notification and as a historical CBSE CCE indicative conversion. VTU, AKTU and JNTUK R19/R20 use (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. JNTUH R22 and GTU Notification 1 of 2012 use (CGPA − 0.5) × 10. KTU (after June 2023), Anna University Departments, RGPV Ordinance 04(A), VIT, SRM, Amity, LPU, IKGPTU (from 2020) and Calicut CBCSS UG use × 10. SPPU’s Examination Section document uses × 8.9. Mumbai University no longer uses a CGPA formula from 1 January 2026.
Which formula should I write in a job application?
Write the percentage your university or college certificate states. If the form allows a converted figure, use the regulation that matches your scheme and keep the official document or college letter with you. Do not mix formulas from another university because the number looks convenient.
Can I convert SGPA with the same formula?
Only if your university’s regulation says so. Most of the documents linked here convert CGPA (often the final CGPA). A semester SGPA is a different quantity. Ask the exam section before putting an SGPA conversion on a form.
Why do different websites show different results?
They often copy one popular formula onto every university. SPPU is a clear case: many sites still show (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 even though the Examination Section PDF uses × 8.9. KTU’s −2.5 offset was removed in June 2023. Mumbai’s old 7.1 × CGPA + 11 rule was repealed from 1 January 2026. This section only uses the documents listed.
What if my university is not listed?
There is no universal formula. Common conventions are CGPA × 9.5 or CGPA × 10, but only your university’s regulation is valid for official use. Use the “My university isn’t listed” option for those two conventions as a rough check, then confirm with your college.
